Intro to Civil Construction - Skills for Industry

NS Training are running a 5-day Introduction to Civil Construction training programme with participants having the opportunity to meet with employers on completion. Civil Construction involves the maintenance, design, and construction of both natural and physically built environments such as roads, railways, buildings, water reservoirs, landscaping, and bridges.

 The training will include:

  • Civil Construction training and overview
  • Spotter Safety Observer Training
  • Temporary Traffic Management Worker - Unit standard 31958
  • Traffic Management Officer, non-practicing - Unit standard 31959
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Using a Harness in a Traffic Management environment including practical use
  • Health and Safety Training
  • Toolbox talks
  • Radio use and effective worksite communication
  • Hazard identification and Incident reports
  • A set of Personal Protective equipment provided
  • Lunch provided each day.

Seeking participants with:

  • A genuine interest to work in Civil Construction or Traffic Management
  • Good level of fitness
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to pass drug test

Programme offers pre-employment theoretical and practical training for those who want to get into the Civil Construction or traffic control industry.

The NZQA qualifications will be loaded to the candidates record of learning, with the traffic management qualifications gained in the programme also contributing towards a New Zealand Certificate in Temporary Traffic Worksite Management (Level 3).
